2 12"type r VS 1 sundown15" d2

That's a tough call to make. It depends on enclosure and application which is what the guy above that I was arguing with was trying to articulate. The point I made is, that if you have 2 subs and one is less efficient, sounds sloppier, and handles less power that if you put those two subs in enclosures and vehicles that gave IDENTICAL responses over the sub-bass range, that the crappier one would still be crappier. It would still sound sloppier, not be as loud, etc. If you built it a box with a flatter response, it might sound better. If you built it a box with a peakier response it might get as loud as the other sub if the other sub remained in the original enclosure, but at the end of the day it's always playing catch up.

There is a common misconception between satisfaction and actual performance. Most people are so used to subs in terrible enclosures that even a crappy type r in an enclosure that is properly built for it sounds AMAZING to their ears. If they were to hear a QUALITY sub on clean power in a properly built box it would blow their minds. It is not 90/10 as far as enclosure/sub. It is for someone's satisfaction that only knows crappy equipment and enclosures... but for someone who is going to do a proper install no matter which sub they use, the sub will make a MUCH larger difference.

That cadence looks like a very nice sub, but Sundown, if we're talking about the nightshade will probably not be outclassed by much if any. That sundown is a quality sub.

The Sundown is a better made woofer. IMHO of course. And will handle power well. The Type-Argh's are rumored to handle alot of power, but it seems hit or miss, as i also see them in blown woofer threads on rated power. Alot of this will boil down to enclosure. However, an optimum enclosure can be built for either. And i Think the sundown will be the better of the two choices.

Air displacement is surface area and excursion.

Surface Area for the Sundown: 176.625

Type-R's together: 226.08

I'll let someone else calculate the rest, my internet is not cooperating.

well yes, if your budget is say 500 dollars make sure you have atleast 150 to have a custom box built for you. you can have amazing subs but if the box is no good then you might as well have some cheap sony's lol, i hat wjhen i find idmaxs for sale in a pre fab box, what a shame

cadence has a 89db efficiency

from what ive read on this forum, sundown makes well built, solid products, and i know from my experience that a type r's can get loud, but they dont put out clean sound. no matter what box you put a type R in, it will not sound as good as the sundown sub in the proper box. IMO

well thanks to all u guess ill go with a z15 just hav to check with jacob to see if he still hav any now the next step is to to get a box design for it now will ask of help again

thanks thanks thanks

Why do you try to give out so much information, when you have never owned the product, or know much about it? Really starting to irritate me...
