2 12" Alpine Type-R questions

Alright, im new to the whole car audio game so if you do answer my question try to put them in simplest form please and thank you. So I recently bought a pair of alpine type-r subwoofers along with a single chamber sealed box, and a pioneer 1200 w mono d block amp. I am also using an inline converter so that i can keep my stock headunit and still be able to use my subwoofers. My headunit goes to a max of 45, i usually play my music between 30-40, I have the gain real low on my subs, and the head unit eq set to +7/7 bass. when i turn the volume on my headunit up to about 38-40 I hear popping noises on long low notes that sounds like the back of the sub is hitting the back of the sealed box, which isnt possible becasue it is bolted down, but that is what it sounds like. when i turn it down a little it stops, but the thing is, i have the gain down low so its not like im over powering it, hell im most likely underpowering it and that is why i dont understand why i am getting this noise. my subs are in a 06 chevy impala

You need to learn how to set your gains properly first of all. JL Audio - Car Audio Systems

Then your subs won't make noise from being underpowered...Your either bottoming out the sub, or clipping the amp. The details of your enclosure would be helpful, but I have a feeling setting your gains properly would probably fix your issue...
