I gots deez 2 12' MTX SUbs & i have a lil amp but it doesnt perform the way I

im looking 4. So would yall suggest 4 me a 600 watt amp or an 800 watt amp?

or would u suggest a 1000 watt amp? & let me know what type of toll these high wattage amps will do on my vehicles altenator!

Ur replies can start in 3........2.........1.......GO!

So you have 2 12" MTX Thudner 6000 subs, 250RMS...looking for an amp...

A 500watt mono amp would work fine. I would go larger in case you want to upgrade later on, but you would need to be very careful with the gains.

Dude told me frm the audio shop that I should go for a 600 watt amp?

I know u just said that a 500 watt mono amp would be just fine but how

much do those costs? & if will that put a strain on my alternator?

Im not setting up my amp & stuff like dat. I dont know how to do it thats

why Im going to the audio shop. But i would like a lil inside info b4 I just

go in there so they wont eat me & my $ up like a shark!-Feel me

When u say 250 rms is that each sub? so combined all I need is a 500 watt amp?

Therefore if i get anything higher than a 500 watt it will most likely blow them out

or am I talkin stupid right now!

Well, 500 RMS is what your subs can handle continuously, so that would be best for your subs. You can get an amp larger than that, you just have to turn the gains down some. It's always better to have too much power than not enough. If you have too little than it's a possibility you would turn the gains up and start clipping the amp, which is bad. So go with a bigger amp, something around 500-600 RMS. One cheap but good amp is the JBL 600.1. It puts out over 600 RMS and is had relatively cheap.

Hey steve, what do you think 3 10" L5's would hit in my truck? About .8-1.0 per sub sealed, running off either the BE or the RE. Oh, and lots of second skin.

Small box...very small box lol.

If the box was larger, my guess would be mid 140's....maybe lower, maybe higher.

Again, just a guess;) Bigger box and going ported would help things;)

Well, maybe i could get 1.5 per sub. Ported is most likely out of the question, unless i make a common chamber, which i heard is bad on the subs. Here's a rough schematic of the box. Tell me what you think.

Thinking of any other subs? (Not detering you away from the L5's)

Well, the reason i chose the L5's is because the depth isn't that much, they work in smaller enclosures, and they aren't expensive. Plus i can fit 3 back there. Do you have any other suggestions? Maybe 2 10"s that have the same depth but have the ability to get just as loud (and maybe, just maybe, sound better?)?

EDIT: Plus the X-max isn't as much, which kinda factored out some of the other subs. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Just a thought...bucket seats + center console?

Dash-rear, using airspace between the seats and behind the seats...mounting one or two subs in there...then your amps go near the front close to the dash, in the console. Lots of work, sure, but it's pretty sweet.

Well, i already have a split-bench/bucket seat type deal in my truck already and i really like them. They are from a '99 s-10 and we got them for free and they look nice in an older s-10 like mine. That would be wicked though. But i'd rather just have them in the back seeing as it's a daily driver and don't want to attract any theives. Any other suggestions as to different subs? Cause if i got 2 10"s then i could put them in bigger boxes and maybe even go ported.

YAY.. My second skin came today....YAY

hey, go with the jbl 600.1 i had it on my 2 12" Mtx6000s in a sealed box and they slammed hard for how cheap i go them! and believe me, they will take the 325 watts that they get from the 600.1 just watch the gains...only bout half way at most...no bass boost! peace
