2/0 Gauge Big Three

Never done the big three myself, but know the concept of it..

Friend of mine works up at the local parts plus store. They sell 4 gauge 1/0 and 2/0 wire. He dropped the 2/0 in his car and told me I should do the same. The only reason i'm considering it is because they sell it for almost $8 a foot, but the store buys it for $4.50 a foot, which he can buy it for that price (since hes an employee), and he can give it to me at that price.

Is using 2/0 for the big three over kill? I was thinking of using 2/0 from alt to battery, and engine ground to bat, then using the 4 gauge from bat to chassis. Would that be okay with using the 4 gauge for that?

Thanks guys

The bigger you can go the better since in the future you will have to run less runs of wires.

If you do a 2/0 or bigger then you can run it to a distribution block and output using single 1/0 wires which the smaller run of anything from the distrib block will give you the most power possible since it wont be long like the bigger wire from the front battery.

Run all the same size for the 3

It's industrial ofc wire. A local buddy gave me some. It's very heavy and thick. I was told it retails for $35 per ft. I'll post up a pic if it next to Shca 2/0 wire when I get home later
Thats electrician wire made for power lines hahaha its very hard to purchase without a electricians license since most distributors offer to big companies mainly.

Also if its true electrician wire it will be larger then shca 2/0 and welding cable 4/0
