1st box for kicker L5 pls read

call me crazy but im thinking about building my own box. to avoid paying for a design, i thought i'd go with the specs in the kicker manual, i don't know if i should go with the middle or largest box though (ported), i calculated that the tunning for the middle box is 34Hz and largest is 40Hz and reading other threads i think id rather go with something around 34 for better sql. which one should i use? its a 12" kicker l5 and i have a hifonics amp powering it with 600 rms. i was thinking the largest box since i dont have so much power for it? but then could i adjust the port measurements to make it tune lower and go with the rest of the dimensions of the box in the manual? thanks for any help

moe lester posted tons of box plans in the box building section, its a sticky at the top called box plans. just pick one out of there.

ohh yea man thats one of the first things i looked at but i see all of them are for round subs, can i just put a square hole in one instead and use it?

haha aight man, as u can tell im pretty much brand new at the whole box building stuff. another question though, what is the difference with building a ported with the more complicated port section than the simpler "L" shaped port? examples: http://img30.imageshack.us/my.php?image=32cubes28hz435sqin9pz.png

that does sound stupid now hahaha ive just been lookin for a prefab box for the past week on different sites and i got used to ignoring any circles

really, how come? i thought as long as i have room i should go towards kickers larger end (3.25 cu) and tune low, thought that would make it loudest but maintain a good amount of sql? thats what i gathered from lookin at diff posts here about kickers

He means that the reason why the port on that one zigs back and forth is because to get the required tuning the port was to long to make a simple L shape port so you have to zig and zag around to make the required length
