**Dissclaimer!!...I want daily SPL. I want to be able to slam for a while on a regular basis. Not looking for a perfect sound quality setup. I want to be beatin' tha streets. I don't want to be told I'm a noob or be trashed, we each have our own expectations of what we want from a sound system.** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

Ok, so as you might now if you have seen my previous threads, I have a SA e15D2. Ok, having said that, I am looking at getting a Diamond Audio D600.1 Amp, is this a good amp? Also, I plan on wiring sub and amp at 1ohm. Will this be ok? I know that the lower the ohm load the harder the amp works, and typically the SQ goes down when the impedence drops. Will 1ohm hit harder and get those lows I want?? I am concerned that I will not like my setup and be out of $500! Just wanted some thoughts. Thanks

Im no expert myself, but you should read the output the amp is rated for at what ohm to make sure its safe to run at 1 ohm. The amp should push the sub nicely and could probably even take a bit more power as long as you make sure its not clipping, As for hitting the lows thats more box design than anything and to get what you want i would say to invest some time and a bit of money into making yourself a custom box instead of the prefabs they have around.

Ill just throw my opinion out there but i would probably get a fosgate or sundown amp, iv had the best results with them although iv never tried diamond audio

Have you done research? If it's 1 ohm stable, then yes, you will get more power from the lower resistance. Exactly how much power is based on the amp. And "hitting harder" isn't based on resistance. It's based on power output. An amp will allow more current to be passed at a lower resistance, but if you have an amp thats rated for 1kW RMS at 1ohm, an amp rated for 2kW RMS will produce more power at 2ohms than amp #1 at 1ohm . Not trying to patronize you, but the way you wrote that made it sound like you may not understand that to me.

For me, I will more than likely always buy more power than what I need at the moment, because you are always going to want to upgrade, and when you do, you won't have to purchase a whole new amp to get the power you need. For example, if that sub is rated for 1kW RMS (I don't know what it's actually rated for), I would probably buy about a 2kW amp, or whatever I could afford at the moment. Then, if (read:when. It's inevitable, trust me) you want to upgrade, you already have an amp that will power a new, better system. Make sense? Obviously I don't know your budget, but it's just an idea.

And yes, box design is key.

Ok, for box design, my sub specs say mounting depth 7.5" or whatever, is it OK to make it deeper?? Will it really make a difference? I will make it to the specs of the sub=3.5cu.ft. stuff like that! Is that ok?

mounting depth is just how far back the magnet of your sub will stick into the sub box, make the box per ur sub recommendations as far as port size, cu ft, and port tuneing go is the best choice to you unless u got the cash to experiment

wow you really are new mounting depth means this is how tall the speaker is from the bottom of the motor to the bottom of the mounting flange it has nothing to do with your box unless it's real shallow then your sub won't go all the way in.

beat me to it.

this is how deep the sub will sit in the box (- box material thickness) in reality, you are going to be looking at like 18" deep, 18" tall and 24-30" wide, depending on the type and tune of the port. The 600.1 would be perfect for that sub..but if you ever plan to add another, or want to upgrade to subs that handle more power, look to a good amp like this:

Lanzar OPTI2600D (opti-2600d) Monoblock Class D OptiDrive Amplifier

You can wire the E 15 D2 to 4 ohms and have just as much power as the Diamond at 1ohm, with the option to rewire to 1ohm for a SPL burp( maybe gain down to @ 1k for that, lol)....and as you can tell by the tremendous flexibility...future sub upgrades are wide open. Spend wisely, grasshopper.

Thanks dude! lol.

I have my box specs at 35 long, 16 deep, and 18 wide...this will keep it in my 3-4.cu.ft. range for the sub and it is roughly tuned to 35Hz. sound good, cuz i'm making my cuts today?
