why do i keep burning up alternaters

I'mrunning 3 R.D audio 12"s on 3 power acoustik 5500's in a 1997 320 Benz.and I'm running a 280amp alternater.and it literally burns up d alternater within 1or 2 minutes of playing time. Any suggestions??????......could grounding be a issue???????

What exactly do you mean by burning up your alternator?

Is everything fused?

3 5500's is quite a bit.. how many batteries?

If seriously, your alternator goes from perfect to completely toast in 1-2 minutes you have an extreme problem.

How big is your charging wire?

I don't know who maid it. I had it installed by a upgrade shop.it putting out 14.5

Alternator BRAND:

Battery: TYPE - BRAND - NUMBER OF BATTERIES

Wire: WIRE SIZE : ran from alternator to battery

Big 3: BIG 3?
