Ok, i finally began my dual 12' sealed enclosure build today. I'm thinking this may take anywhere from 10-20 days to complete, but i'm so happy i finally got started on this thing. The reason i am doing this is to eliminate all rattles from the trunk for the best sound quality possible for my car. When it's all said and done i will only have about 1/2 of my trunk space available, but what the hell, the system is more important.

I am screwing and bolting this baby in to my car so the thieves out there will not like trying to steal my stuff, they will probably just say **** it, at least i hope. Anyway, here are some pics from what we've done so far. Updates real soon............!!

The first half of the front of the enclosure, **** this takes some serious time to do! It's got to go in 2 peices, this is the first.

gonna start cutting the holes in soon............

i'm still wondering how much i should sound deaden back there around the enclosure? I don't really want to buy some more sound deadener, but i got a little bit left.

Should i sound deaden around the box, where all that bare metal is?

So you are doing this due to just the vibrations of your trunk? Why didn't you try buy some good sound deadener and go that route? I don't think you will liked the R's facing in sealed. Sealed facing back they don't sound bad, but not front. I have had them both ways and sealed off in my cav It was a waste of time and some money. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

That is a bad arse car buddy!

i will use the type r's for a while until i get enough money to buy some type x's or re sx's. I have plenty of power in my amp to make the r's sound loud for now. I don't know if they will sound real loud yet, and i'm sure they will lose some of there punch, but if this enclosure eliminates the rattles, i think it is well worth it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Anyway, i am going to go cut some holes in the front and do a little more work on it and i will have updates later. Things aren't looking too bad right now, it's just the calculations that piss me off. LOL
Your going to lose certain type of sounds and probably hear the cone. I only had a 1000rms going to mine and heard all kind of mechanical sounds I didn't facing back with gains under half.

Better make sure you seal it the right way. I used some foam to help seal mine up and helped some.

They really like ported boxes though, should have tried to go ported facing them in. Then you would probably still have the output. I wish I did that, but didn't have the room. Looks like you may in your trunk. I would do ported myself in this case, unless you need the room back there.

SX's like to be ported as well. The X's do well sealed.

Trail and error..........just giving you heads up, as I have had first hand expierence with doing what you are, just different car. Acoustics are different in every vehichle, so might sound better in yours, who knows.

I would do the X's as well with this setup. SX's if you go ported ever.
