1994 jeep grand cherokee build

After building my previous system in my old Toyota pickup (sa8 v2) the drive line took a serious dump so time to start a new.

Picked up a 94 jeep grand Cherokee for 900$ now im not a jeep guy but what got me was the v8, space inside, the po had installed a brand new 150a mopar alt the week before I bought it, and jeep zj's have some serious insulation and sound deadening from the factory in the doors hatch and fire wall.

Im still in high school with just a minimum wage job so its gonna be a slow build but my wood tech teacher is letting me build a box for my class project. listen to mostly rap and dubstep, just looking to get as loud as possible and a hair trick would be awesome but don't need to do one. budget doesn't matter it just takes me awhile to save up for parts for the build

I am considering

2 sundown sa12's

1 orion hcca 12

1 sundown x15's

2 DC lvl 4 with xl parts

Its hard to decide lol

like I said its gonna be a slow build as I gather parts

Went and picked up all my building supplies

2 sheets of 3/4 mdf the box is going to be 1.5" thick

tight bond 3 glue

2" screws

3M fiber glass resin to make the inside ultra smooth

DAP apex caulk sealer for all the inside joints

taking it to school tomorrow and designing my box on the schools CAD software. Now i just have to decide what to run before tomorrow

I was thinking a 18" would be sweet everyone that drives to school with systems thinks their 2 sony xplodes and kicker comps in terrible sealed boxes are the loudest thing ever. I had my Toyota pickup with a single sa-8 v.2 on clean 700w power in an aero ported box I made and it hammered.

I have to take measurements to see if I can fit a box for a 18.

I decided 3 sa8 v2s having 1 already helped my decision. Going to build my box short and fat like a pancake 2.5^ 45 square port area not shure if I want to tune low like 27-28hz or go with 32hz

going to mount them in a triangle 2 rears inverted and the front regular. Gotta show off those beefy 8 motors.

decided on the 8's because they have great response and can play any kind of music well

Sure you don't want to go big and pick up one of my hdc4 18s?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif haha your about 2 and a half hours from me. Cool shit

honestly i've heard a couple of setups all in the same jeep that i currently own. it passed thru a ew hands before i bought it and like the guy above says a 15 will sound great. i had 2 10s in it, my bro in law had 2 12s and the acoustics are very well suited for low rumbling bass

Low and louds means low tuning and lots of cone area power is power you can fudge it a little by making the box bigger or smaller but 1 18 in 2k will sound great.

numbers wise hispl is right 1 15 corner ported towards the driver side rear

1 sundown x 15 it is. I think the X 2k would = 1 mid powered 18 I mean less cone area obviously but if im not mistaken the new x drivers have some wicked excursion so doesn't that make up for less cone area?

thanks phemps for hooking me up with a bad a** hdc4 18"

man that thing dwarfs the sa8 v2. the box is getting started in the next 2 days

I started cutting the baffle pieces today ill post pics up tomorrow, I only have 55 min a day to work on it because the school changed all shop classes to single periods all year instead of doubles for half the year. They also have a lame no phone policy but I cant have a build thread with no pics so ill snap them as I go along im shure my teacher will look the other way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

got 4 cuts for the baffle and bottom pieces the rest is going to be the sides, port and 45's

over all dimensions 41" long 30" deep and 16" high comes out to 6^ after displacements and ill be tuning to 35hz, ill be starting a slim box for under the seat of an ext cab 150 for a single kicker comp 12 on Friday for my friend as well
