1992 Honda Civic Big 3 Installation *Pics* 56k Beware

Intercooler,

You want to buy all of the supplies online, because buying them in a shop can cost you near 200$ and all for just the big 3.

I bought 12 feet of 1/0 awg for like $35 shipped at Elementaldesigns.com and I only needed about 6 feet of it or so, but then again im about to re ground the engine block under my intake manifold, which might be another 2 feet or so, the negative battery terminal for like 2 bucks, and the 1/0 wire terminals you can get at lowes, or a few local shops. The local shop I went to was in rockville maryland off gude drive it was called extreme audio or something, it looked to be a piece of crap shop though really.. dude you are DEFINATELY going to need to do the big 3 in your civic with that hifonics amp, it would cost you about $50 or so, and it would be a much better improvement rather than just getting another battery. Depending on how big your stock alternator is, you might want to upgrade that too, but I think you probbaly have around 90-120 amps so you should be fine as long as you dont blast it all the time.

Salsa,

I am going to re ground the engine block, their is a place underneath my air intake I was told that im going to check out tomorrow. Thanks for the input and I am going to use those terminal cover things, couldnt hurt!

Intercooler,

If you want to do the big 3, just PM me and ill help tell you where to buy the stuff at a good price, way better than buying some "kits" that cost $200 and crap for some wires and terminals. I know where to get pretty much anything at a good price, im a cheapie and surf the net to find the cheapest deals for the SAME exact products. and I wish I knew of some places to talk audio, and competitions around here, but im solo...dont know anyone except on this forum that likes to talk audio...

I honestly don't know how it runs now. It is giving up the ghost and showing its weakness though because the sub amp kicks out when I crank it for a while. I plan on doing a battery. For some VERY ODD reason the shop I use doesn't really believe in the big three. My only reason for not doing it myself is I don't know where to get all the supplies to do it. I don't have the Hifonics amp in yet so I know I will need to do something! That's about 1400 watt increase over what I have now... or double!
they dont believe in it because they would rather sell ya caps for no reason whatsoever instead

I am pretty sure it is 70 Amp. I feel like a dick when I go in to the audio shop to have them work on my car because other than a little wire or couple of connections I have zero of their stuff! I take them subs, amps, etc... to install yet they sell all of it. Just not my flavor of stuff though! I for sure need to do it. I think it is nuts what they charge for the alternators! Even without a core none of the 200 amp and under alternators should cost more than $250 ish. I bought an upgrade kit for my old Buick alternator to go from 105 Amp to 200 Amp for $79.00. You can do all new for $200: http://www.turbobuicks.com/store/products.asp?cat=3

Yeah yours is 70 amps, I just checked it out online. I mean why would you buy their stuff? Its probably more expensive and your still paying them to install stuff anyways. Alternator prices are crazy...I hated buying mine.

Im going to do it tomorrow, Im sure I can find out where it is, wait do you have the same style of civic as me? the engine bay in that pic looks a bit different that mine..

got it from ebay under a guy named more_amps, great feedback rating. I got 160 amps for $150 shipped. I go with around 160 and just get a better battery. Kinetic are good budget batteries. You could get one for about $100 or so shipped, the HC 600 or 800 and they hold 800 and 950 amps.

Yehh mines a 95 Civic same style...but i have an b18b engine swap:naughty:
But it should be the same

Ahhh engine swaps with a civic!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
