The audio in my 80 camaro is seriously lacking right now, i upgraded from the stock am/fm cassette and dash speaker to an old kenwood digital face dual post and two el cheepo 6x9 duals from walmart in the rear decklid and its time to get serious.
For headunit, its either gonna be a kenwood mp kdc 135 or kdc mp335 that i have brand new in box. Each one has a sub out, but the mp335 has front and rear amp lines too, but i like the looks of the 135 more even though its more basic. I may upgrade to something like a Kenwood KDC-HD942U.
Front speakers im debating a couple things. I have some pioneer 4" 2 ways, but since the dash speakers are so hard to get at, i was also considering some rockford fostgates for the front, in either a 3.5" or 4" inch size (Either will work) and possibly some tweeters.
Any reason to pick 3.5" or 4" speakers? I figure, the same brand and style they will be close in sound, then possibly a cheaper, but still good quality tweeter i could put on the top of the A pillar. The front speakers will not be amplified.
3.5 inch 4 inch
For the rear, i was thinking about some 6x9 rockford fostgates, amplified by a jl audio E4300. The jl amp is used but i got it right. I dont think im going to run anything for a subwoofer (at least for right now, the both headunits have a sub out, and my amp has an input for speaker line as opposed to normal audio cables.
6x9 fostgates
Specs for e4300 amp
45w rms x4 @4ohms or 150w rms x2 @4 ohms
Ive read good things about the fostgates, my buddy has them in the doors of his 07 f150 ran off the stock headunit, just wanted your guys opinions and maybe suggestions to what you think would be the best route. I wanna do this audio install once and do it right. I mainly listen to rock, some country, sometimes rap, and when the sounds right i like bass, but i want sound quality overall, not just loudness.
Im 19 and have never installed an amp before, but ive done plenty of reading, and it wont be a hard task at all.
Using this adapter for the Amp power line
oh, one last thought, anyone ever bought from sonic audio? Any complaints? They look pretty reputable and ive also read good reviews on them.
Just let me know your thoughts, dont be afraid to be mean, im still young and learning and would love to be pointed in the right direction, but if your going to try and make a point, please be able to back yourself up, thats all i ask. I like to know why im wrong, not just that im wrong.
