18" RE MT's *PICS* 02/06/08

or just build the same wall you have and tune it higher. 35hz would be a good place to start................
1st thing I'm going to do this weekend before I do the new build is chop off about 5-6" of port out of my current box/wall which will give me 33-35hz tuning. I will see how it sounds, if it's what I'm looking for I'll keep it. If it doesnt work out well I'll build one of the box's I've posted in this thread and I will make sure the subs are side by side loaded evenly with the port.

sigh, guess you could always go sealed........

Anyway, have you thought about instead of chopping down the port maybe add some stuff inside the box to take up enclosure volume? That way you still raise the tuning and IF you decide to run more power in the future, your subs will be able to handle the power better in the smaller enclosure and it's always easier to take out the stuff you add instead of vice versa. I say throw in some large 45's in the corner to take up the space.

dont completely limit yourself to a crx style box or any other box. this setup is in an explorer. this user has tried a crx style box and he lost 2.3db by going that route.

this is how he is loudest on the mic for his particular setup. scored a 151.7 (i think in the kick, but i could be wrong) off 1 sundown 3000d. just by looking at it, you wouldnt think it would score louder than a crx style box, but obviously it can at least in this particular setup

Yes i have tried different positioning and subs forward / Ports up along the back window line yield the highist SPL !

if i lay the box on its back and fire the subs up & port to the rear i lose 2.3db

I'll either take 5" of port off or put a big 45 in the top rear corner.... this was my original plan so I could slid the box back to fit snug agains the rear hatch and match the slop of the window....

No updates on the system...

My blazer was stolen out of my garage a few weeks ago. They found it, but it was pretty much totaled.

I turned in hella receipts to cover everything in the vehicle and even make a small profit out of this event. Lets just say I've got enough to rebuild and upgrade to 22's and (4) 18's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Just trying to decide on what to get or to rebuild the blazer better then what it was before and still have money to spare.

Here's my options that I've been looking at..

Black Infinity FX35 on 24's with a single 18"(maybe SSA SPL series)...

Black Dodge Charger on 24's with (4) 10's in a 4th order bandpass ported through arm rest...

Regardless of what happens the future ride is gonna be tight.

Oh and BTW, I'm in the process of purchasing and customizing a really nice Model 1300 Defender 8-Shot with Pistol Grip Stock and lazer/flashlight attachment so the next time this happens I will be ready....

wow..that sucks man..that blazer was bad *** to..

Ya, it sucks.

I actually took the the giant dual 18" 15cuft box out of the blazer a few days before the jacking and put just a single 18 back into it in my 7cuft box. That weekend I was going to modifiy the box to raise the tuning and angle the top corner so it will slide back flush against the window. I even borrowed my friends HD camcorder to make videos, but I was 1 day too late //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I put hella time into that ride, which is why I'm thinking about keeping it and rebuilding it with the cash that I'm getting back. But I kinda want to start fresh with a new ride.

I'm really diggin the Inifiniti fx35, its interior is amazing and it sounds just like a 350z and when supercharged its just fast as fck...
