18 in. not as deep as i expected!!

ok i just installed my mj-18 in a 5 cu. ft. @30 hz. and it pounds hard and loud but unless you get a song with really deep bass like, hoods run down, it does not get as deep on the average song as my 12 in. did. what could i do different or is it just playing the actual frequency of the song better than my other did, because it does get LOW on certain songs?

hmmm... well most 18's ive played with need a little bit bigger box. are you sure your not just expecting it to play lower?

ha ha ha! I had the same prob Win I put my mj-18 in my car I was like WTF? the bass is tight and no lows but what did I do I plead a 20hz tune Avery day for a week and boom I had more low end you just have to break it in

I dont have it broken in all the why yet (what can you do with 120Wrms )

ohhhh ok thanks cuz i was kinda worried, but i forgot someone told me that mach5 subs had to be broken in alot, so you say to play 20 hz for a while on it

The MJ-18 does require some break-in. It won't start coming into its own until you've logged 30-50 hours on it.

Then those subs require unusually small boxes. 5 cubes ported is small for an 18, generally speaking.

O and dont play it to loud with 20hz b/k it's 10hz below tuning so do it at about 1/4 to 1/3 on the HU

Or just drive around listening to music like normal and it'll break in over time.
