16v daily?

well it comes a time in ever young mans life that he notice more power can be made with more voltage..lol

But really my idea is this:

get an alternator and Ext. Reg., get a PM step down box, and get 4 16v batteries for the trunk

my questions are can GP3000d's take 16+ volts daily? i've been reading some amps take it better than others? I know my gp3kds are unregulator so I know taking the power is not the problem. The problem is can they take that kind of power daily?

Also what is the whole story about step down boxes being spiky? and not having longevity?

and lasty..do you think 4 16v batteries can handle 4 gp3000ds daily?

You will need several step-downs to really run a 12v system, especially since you have those multi-channel amps... I'd say four or five would do nicely.
Why so many step down boxes?

I thought i had to run 2 wires from the alternator(1 to the 16v bank and the other to 12v battery in the front)

then inbetween the wire from the alt to the 12v battery in the front? with the PM step i can go as high as 19v for charging because of the 3.6v step-down(i know that equals 15.4v i have 15.6v on my batteries now from the MLA module)

Because they are rated at 50a MAX. You will need one stepdown per 50a of 12v current you need.

gp3000d's can take 16v no problem

high voltage protection kicks in around 18.4-18.5 volts.

i'm running dual post batteries, but i just recently learned that all 12v posts must be connected as well as 16v posts... The 1 with the 12v draw i had balooned, but again, that was because it was the only 1 out of the 5 with the 12v draw.

****..is the 3 post battery decent?

if i go the 3 post battery route ill have a bank of 12v and 16v batteries..

hmm..what to do..

and im not fully understanding the step down boxes..20a per 12v?
