166 db calibrated cheapie termlab for DMM's

Buy it I don't think you will regret it. I recieved mine already I was going to meter my system, but currently I am rebuilding my system. Metered a friends system that does 142 on the ac he only did 136 on my sensor.

Anyone know if this meter would be a good enough to measure gains with testing port direction or changing boxes? I was thinking about getting one of these because our shops don't do meter session (lame) so I can only test at usaci shows

I've had one of these for quite a while but never had a chance to compare it to any other spl meters. I guess a few have said they are fairly accurate but I dont trust it just yet.

Pzaully

Has anyone tried these with cheap like $20 DMM's? I bought one of these meters and either I'm retarded and have the DMM hooked up wrong, on the wrong setting, or my SPL meter's bad. The lowest my DMM's DC voltage setting is 200m, and when it's on that setting it jumps around so much that it's impossible to pick where it should be. Anyone else have this problem? Does the 200m mean that it's only accurate to the .2 of a volt or does that refer solely to the numbers on the display? Just for reference my DMM looks something like this http://www.multimeterwarehouse.com/MAS830Bf.htm and I have it on the 200m Volts DC setting. What am I doing wrong, or better yet, what exactly are you people that are having success doing?

wouldnt you use AC voltage?

Heres the main link again.

well not having used it yet..... but being very excited about what it can do and how it does it.... I looked around the site to see if there was a gleaming example of AC vs. DC. This is the tell tale sign they compare the output voltage to D/C with reference to the 1.5 volt D/C battery

http://www.makeitlouder.com/products_soundmeter_usage.html

Set your meter to D/C voltage setting on your meter. Exponentially the meter becomes more "sensitive" or puts out more Milli-volt per Db. as the sound pressure increases. So that means you can dial in the bass even more precisely as it gets louder....down to the 1000th of a Db if your meter acurately "clocks out" far enough.

Im just going off what Im reading. Haven't used it yet. Cool Piece tho!

Yes peak hold would be a dandy feature as well.

i tryed buying it, payment was ****ed up he said my payment stayed on pending blah blah for 2 weeks called paypal, said he had the money, and there was no doubt about it, so i filed a claim, got my money back, he agreed to it, ill prob try again another time hopefully its easier. i really wanted to try one of these out too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif
