15's that like 3.2~ cubes $210

Depending on what 12 you used it would out perform what you have now. Using improperly sized enclosures is the number one reason for lack of output.
I'm down with spending the same $210 on a BEEFY 12. Beefy 12 in a perfect enclosure vs OA/Level 2 15 in 3 cubes on 700 watts RMS, which gets louder, lower and cleaner. This is the simple compare you need to do before recommending me a good 12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

3 cubes is plenty for a lot of 15"s, no?
In some cases, but the issue is what port area and tuning is being used? What is the loading configuration? Also, most "larger" 15s want closer to 3.5-4 to really get to their potential.

With all that considered, you are almost 100% better off with a smaller sub because of the ability to most the sub and port around...alter port area...alter tuning...and still have some "wiggle" room on top of that.

Everyone hates the owner, but a used skar vvx would work. They play the lows and like small boxes. I haven't heard an obsidian, so i am not sure if it would be much different though. I would personally go with a good 12 in the right box.

Pro-rabbit is a well respected member that builds and designs boxes for a living. When it comes to whether to use a 12 or 15, I would listen to his input
12 it is then! Plus I think I can salvage a little more trunk space since I'll need a smaller box. Now the question is what 12 should I get thats within my $210 budget? I want a BEEFY 12, not in terms of RMS wattage but in terms of SQL. Needs to get around 135-140dB and get low! I'm thinking something in the lines of a Fi, Dayton? I would buy that nightshade in the classifieds but its wayy out of my budget..

What 12 is a SQL monster?

600-800 watts @ 2 ohms. 1300 watts at 1 ohm, but gain will be down quite a bit at that point. Lets just start out with around 800-1100 watts RMS @ 2-1 ohm respectively.

Here's my current system. OA15, wired down at 2 ohms around 700 watts RMS

Box is 3.15 cubes after sub displacment. Port is 1x15' and is around 4-6 inches deep.

Goal is to get noticeably louder and lower than this current setup. Around 135-140ish dB, not much louder than that though!

I had a 15 in 3 cubes @ 31 hz, which was small for a 15 and it did great in the 26 to 35ish range but started to fall off from there. The box was built by pro rabbit, so there wasn't anything wrong with it, just had limited space and could only fit a small box. ***** it got stolen though :/

My 10s are in 3 cubes which is optimum for them and they do me great from 26 to the 40 range, and then start falling off but not as quick as my 15 did. I can play a lot more songs with authority now in the 35 to 40 range. But I'm ready to upgrade again lol

I'd go with the 12 in an optimum box over a 15 in a small box.

Why is your port so small????

That port is simply horrible in design. You would do much better with a wider port. A simple new design may be all you require to improve on what you currently have.

This is what I was talking about! I'm selling this system to my friend, so thats why I was exploring some other sub options! Once I figure out what sub I want, I already got ssteele18 for my Box design! I just need to figure out if I need a 15 or 12..

If its 15 its between a DC Level 2 15 or the same OA15. American bass is too much money, I can't justify the extra money, especially since I think my current setup sounds absolutely AMAZING..

If its a 12, then I'm clueless.
