15's... D9, Type-R, mtx 9500?

Thoughts, opinions on each in relation to each other? I've been reading for a long time, and nobody ever compares the 9500 to the type-r. And the D9 is hadly ever talked about.

I've heard mixed reviews of both the D9 and the 9500.

Heard the D9's blow up easy, and are monotone (you know who you are)

I've heard the 9500's are beastly loud, and 1/2 and 1/2 people say they sound good or bad.... never heard anyone say they're "sloppy" just unnatural...

And the type-r is always a classic, i had to throw it in there for good measure.

I'd like to send the subs between 1,000-1,5000w a piece.

And although i had a 9 cube net box in my car for my L7's, this time around i'd idealy like to give them ~2.5 a piece, tuned in the mid 30's.

Any opinions?

And not that i'm that interested (because i can never get any answers from them) but has ANYONE ever HEARD, or even SEEN a stroker (non-pro new model) cause someone has them 2 for $550 on ebay brand new now. (they used to be $499 a piece!!

If you are talking about he Diamond D9 then it is by far the best sounding woofer on your list. The 9500s are beasts with huge output but not very musical. Still a great sub that is always worth it. Forget the Type R. What a garbage sub. Sounds like shit so the capable output is not worth having it. Not to mention, the people that hit big numbers with Rs usually have hideous TCAB boxes that play the only freqs the R knows how to play. Burping freqs

alright, so i guess it's the 9500 or D9.

They're both the same price, this is gonna be tough.

I wish i could hear EITHER of them!

Shops never setup the good stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'd have a hard time deciding on those either. The 9500 can eat more power than the D9. Despite what it says on the box. IMO the 9500 has the potential to get louder but will never sound as good as the D9 and unless you spend a lot of time tuning and getting it right you might not ever notice the differnce in output. I'd say D9 FTW. Plus the basket is real sexy.

Ive had a 9500 for over a year now. Its a single 12 in a ported box built to Mtx specs hooked up to a 1501d and it sounds OK. It gets loud as hell like said above, but it isnt a very pleasing sub to listen to IMHO.

If you do plan on getting the 9500..I would suggest the NolteAudio Snailshell enclosure. I've had this enclosure, not with the 9500, but it was a great box. They get VERY loud while still sounding good. The only problem is they are pretty pricey..you can do a package deal on the site (nolteaudio.com). Check it out.

For "street beating" purposes, I would say 9500 ftw (esp in this enclosure), but if you want more sq I'd do the D9

Diamond D9 = SQL sub, sounds very very good and has great output, more on que with a W7 if you ask me

Type R gets loud for the price, but is still a piece of crap, in my opinion

9500 is just a power driver, quality isnt too great from what I remember in hearing one

D9 = best overall in my opinion, loud and sounds great

D9 out of those but i'd say look at other companies. Theres SI which the Mag 15 which has awesome SQ and crazy output. Or get the Fi subs which have been getting good looks these days. My vote is SI if using about 1000-1200rms per sub or Fi if using something like 1500+RMS.

Well, i've got some overhead for power, it wasn't really an issue of what can take more power, really, i wouldn't feel cheated if i didn't get to dump it all into something.

How do you guys think the D9 15's will compare in quality, lows, and loudness to the 2 12" type-x's i used to have?

And will the D9 be ok in around 2.5 cubes? I haven't gotten around to checking full specs on it yet.

then come sit in my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif my type R's sound great... especially for the price... I've owned a ton of drivers and these are right in the middle of the spectrum, as is their price. between 30-40htz they really shine. maybe it is my car, maybe it is my box... but they sound great. Also, they get very loud for daily purposes... not every woofer is designed to hit high numbers in an spl competition... and just because someone claimed that they could and YOU couldn't, doesn't mean the drivers are worthless... run each with 600 and they will perform great... run them with 1200 per and of course they'll sound like poo, they are at their mechanical limits and most likely being clipped.

by all means, please point out two 12's that will get as loud as sound as good for 200 bucks...

I have also ran the 15" for quite a while and it performed quite well.
