1508's for spl

I know the 8" subject has been beaten to death, but here's another thread.

I'm planning my new spl setup for next year, and I'm wondering if this would work, or should I just go with 2 12" like everyone lese. I want to be different, but still get loud.

I'm planning 5 1508's on a 3000+ amp. Each one in it's own individual sonotube enclosure. I'll be trying a 6" and a 4" port to see which would get me a better score. I think a 6" might be too much.

I haven't officially tested it but tunning should be around 51Hz to get my peak.

Any idea's would be appreciated. This will be a spl only setup.

Also does anyone know if there would be a more capable 8" sub that would be cheaper, that can also get recones.

I would go with 4 of them for a 1 ohm final load. I wish i had the money for a 3000w amp because i would put 3000w on my 4 1508's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good to know I'll probably be able to get some good scores on these.

I'm thinking of maybe saving a bit of money and getting some AA's instead. That or if mach 5 can come out with some I'll probably take theirs and keep it Canadian.

Does AA offer recones?

Something to think about, but I don't want to go crazy with wattage. It's more fun beating people with less, and I don;t want the headache of battery banks and all that. I want to stick to one good batery under the hood, with one run of 0 gauge.

At the moment I'm pushing out 146's on 1000 watts. It's fun beating other with at least double the power.
