OK, i'm very new to this, so I need some help. I've been watching this and other forums to find what everyone thinks, but not having any luck, so i thought i would just ask.

I am going to build a show car out of an HHR and i want 4 12's. I see people talking about DD, fi, Sound Splinter, and a whole list of others. I want something that stands out in a crowd and can perform in all conditions.

I am looking more towards sql, but loud is good! I am removing the rear seat so space is not a problem.

My budget is around $1200 for all four, if i have to spend that much. I will also need suggestions on amps to push them, my amp budget is $4000. My total budget for the system is $10k, but that includes box, wire, HU, components, processors and setup.

I just sold and old car so i have some extra cash.

Please share. When i get things rolling, i'll post a build log!

In your budget and SQl range the FI Q's or SSD would fill the bill as well as Soundsplinter RLP 12's. 4 of any of those can be had for under 1000. The Q's and RLPs need about 800 to 1000 watts max so you would need sub amp that pushes about 4000 watts. A Sundown 3000 would work as well as Memphis Mojo 4k, or Autotek Mean Machine 3000.1 or 4000.1, and all can be had for less than 1000 bucks on the forum. I am a fan of DD and 4 2512's would fit even better IMO. Not sure the exact price, and you may lose a little SQ, but more than make up for it in SPL, it just depends on what you would tune box to. I have owned SS RLP's and loved it, and a few DD's and best sub ever for me. I have heard an FI or two and they sounded nice, but I have always been anti forum boner.

Thanx, I am leaning towards the fi Qs, and will build the box tuned to 34hz. I really like the lows, and would like to tune it lower, but still not sure.

Where on this forum can i find those amps, like i said, i'm new to this posting thing.

Anyone else have any suggestions.

I would say even up the amp and sub budget a bit. $4000 on amps and $1200 on subs seems a little lopsided.

If I ha $5000 to spend on subs and amps I would go with 4 loud 12s, probably DD 3512s and for amps I would go with a pair of Rockford Fosgate T30001BDs or Sundown Audio 3000Ds. Then you need a High output alternator to supply current and a solid battery bank.

But that leans heavily towards SPL.

For SQL I would go with 4 Stereo Integrity Magnum 12s, powered by 2 Sundown 3000Ds. But you still need a HO alternator and quite a few batteries since you're pumping over 6kw to just subs.

Figure all the necessary electrical needs into your budget.

I would do 4 Soundsplinter RL-p 12's on one Sundown 3000. I have never heard a bad thing about either of those products although not too many people have used the Sundown 3000 but the 1500 is a beast and has not had any trouble. Or if you have the money you could go with a US amps AX3200DE but I think they Sundown will be plenty. And the RL-P's get plenty loud with awesome SQ so if you are looking for SQL I think those are your best bet and you would only need one Sundown 3000 to push them very adequately. 4 Dual 2's wired in series. If you want to wait then you can get 4 AQ HD3C's for about the same price as the RL-p's, the only problem is that you will have to get 2 Sundown 3000's to push them sufficiently and they could probably still take more, but if they are anything like the HD3's they will get louder and they maintain very good SQ. With that budget you have endless options that will fit what you are looking for.

if you are looking for some great looking subs you could look at eclispe titaniums. they have a polished and clear coated solid titanium cone. i used to have a 15 and it got real loud and got extremely low because it had about 3.5" peak to peak excursion. they will take 1500wrms all day if its clean. two RF T20001bd would match up well with them. 4 of those on 2 t20001bds would be painful to listen to at full volume. you will have to spend a few hundred on sound deadening also or your HHR is going rattle like a sonofa*****.

Wow, thanks guys for the input, sorry for not responding sooner, I've had to work for 2 days straight. Well, I did get 4 hours sleep yesterday.

Anyway, do any of you have some links to some of these recommendations, I don't have much luck finding links to some of these brands like soundsplinter and sundown.

I have got the camera ready, I just need to order and start the build.

Thanks again.

If you can't find those on your own, you probably have never written a well done research paper in your life...

Well, after I wrote that post, I went exploring, found all of them except Fi Audio...everytime I go to that site I get redirected to "unable to load"

But to comment on the research paper remark, I have not, will not, shall not, and should not ever be writing a well done research paper. Not that research doesn't need to be done, but everyone else out there is already researching, why not just read theirs.
