I have a amp hooked up to one 12. did the gain tutorial. birthsheet says 1500x1 @ 4 ohm(bridged)

4*300 sqrt= about 18-19ish.

I have it at about 20 volts, which shouldnt be a problem for this amp bridged since it puts out 1500.

I played the sub for about 30 min, and the amp gets pretty warm.

why?!?!?!

everythings hooked up the way it should be, its just getting pretty warm.

if it gets too hot to the touch, then uve got a loose ground most likely,......or ur input signal voltage is too high......

i had that problem and turned out to be a loose ground

Ummmmm lets see here. As heat is a natural byproduct of producing power and the fact that a amp has a heatsink, then couple the amount of time used = more power being created = higher heat signature, I know from experience that heat is a normal and natural part of an amplifier. If the amp gets too warm, it should have a thermal switch in it to turn the amp off so as to allow it to cool down before it starts to cook itself.

Think of turning on your lights at home. After 30 minutes, would you touch the light bulb?
