15" FI Q stopped working

I don't know too much about subwoofer internals and reconing. My 15" FI Q recently went out, how can I test what is wrong and if it's even fixable? I sent FI an e-mail yesterday but haven't gotten a response yet.

First off, take the sub out of the box and check the coils with a DMM.That will tell you if you fried the coils or not..Check the tinsel leads and make sure one of them isn't broken. If you can push down on the cone and it isn't scratchy or locked up, you didn't bottom it out or anything..

If it isn't the coil, tinsel, or bottomed out, I don't know what else to tell ya.

I have a dmm but I'm not sure as to which setting it should be on when I'm testing it.

DCR (dc resistance) should read something around 1.5-1.8 each coil if dual 2 and something about half that for dual 1

You can also ohm the speaker terminals on the box. If dead there, then pull the sub and check it. Could be as simple as a wire coming loose...

thanks guys, it ended up being just a loose wire. I check it with a dmm afterwards and i got 1.1 ohms
