Yeah I was pretty sure the type r's could do it but man I just don't like how they sound. They just aren't very clean.I got a single 12" Alpine Type R that hit 143db...(BPX 2200.1 amp)
the box was sitting in the passenger side trunk corner (Tempo)
woofer facing the drivers side trunk corner and port shooting forward
Termlab mic 12" from pillar and 3" off the dash
there was also a guy at a comp here last summer that hit 147db with a single 12" Alpine

personally id go with the 15. i havernt had trunk space in 6 years and never looked back. thats why you have a back seat
before you do anythign else you need to upgrade your electrical system. prepare to invest alot of money if you wanna get loud
