I know Sundownz and Fargof (and probably a couple others) already addressed it, but...
Before I found this site and started reading (about 5 months ago and I still know NOTHING), I'd look at onlinecarstereo.com and see my BXi2006D with 2000 RMS going for $345, while the equivalent Kicker (or any other reputable amp) was going for two and three times more.
There I was, with no knowledge, thinking Hifonics were this amazing value, and wondering why more people didn't use them. I figured people payed more for the names, and for aesthetics.
You're an uninformed teenager looking for some "bumps" (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif), what are you going to buy, the $350 Hifonics with 2000 RMS, or the $430 Kicker with only 1500 RMS?
The average consumer doesn't know much, which is why Best Buy and Circuit City still sell car audio.
