Hi everyone, I have two JL 12W3V2-D4 on a 3.0 cu ft wedge shaped sealed enclosure powered by a 600 watt amp. They sound pretty good to me but many people had told me that I should port them to take full advantage of them and hear them slam. I'm curious to give it a try just to see how it sounds, who knows maybe I'll like it. I had a 2000 Honda civic four door sedan and my current enclosure dimensions are (remember its a wedge) 35"W X 15.75"H X 9.75 D1(top) X 13.75"D2(bottom). I will really want to stay with the wedge shape just for the added saved space, I don't want to give up my whole trunk just for the subs. JL recommends a port tuned at 30.1 Hz.

Another question, is it possible to place a slotted port on a wedge shaped box?

Those of you who have civic what size and shape of box are you running.

Thanks in advance for any help.

you COULD slot port a wedge shape box but i wouldn't cuz what's the point? you'll get more volume out of the box if you just stick to a conventional rectangular prism.... take some max dimensions and contact jmac immediately lol

Thanks for the comments, my actual box dimensions are on the first post, my two critical dimensions are: 35"W and 15.75" H.

Taking my actual box as a base I think the dimensions that will change will be my bottom and top depth, which should grow like 1.5" - 2", but what about the port dimension, placement and tunning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Is it worth it to port these w3 subs, anyone heard them on a ported enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
