and look into and orion 1200d.... they usually go for around $250, sometimes less, and are solid quality amps

Maybe his head units bad for controlling bass. I really want one, especially since it's tedious to go through 3 menus to control the bass on mine.

Doesn't it control the gain? Less gain = less power for the voltage currently going into the amp = less bass?

Maybe check into Hifonics on ebay, or find a used one here. The 1600 model will probably put out about 1400 @ 1 ohm.
