1200 Watt Alternator.

Scion rates the tC alternator at 1200 watts, and I was curious how that would equate to amps like every other alternator is rated.

Would it be

1200/12=100 amps

or

1200/14= 85 amps

I don't think it really matters, b/c I am only running two I/S 2080's but I was curious.

but seriously, lots of cars regulate their voltage differently.....

hell, my car's regulated at 14.2, or at least it says so in the cabin, but my dmm says 14.7 at idle at my kinetik.....

Is there a way to measure actual output with a dmm? Or should I just measure the voltage and take the 1200 watts at heart and figure it out that way. I am sure its somewhere on the alt, I just couldn't see it without taking stuff apart.

I don't even have my amps in yet, I was just curious. I don't think I am going to run into any problems with the amps I am using, I just wanted to know what my alternator put out.

im guessing 85amps since thats about what all them stock toyotas are running. I know the chevy corsica comes with a stock 105amp alt but I never seen a toyo based car with one.

I know there is a stock GM alternator that will be an even swap with just some shims if I needed more power, but I really don't think I am going to need the extra juice with 2 I/S 2080's.
