12 volt remote lead wire

would it be dangerous for my amp to use a speaker wire to connect the 12v power to the remote lead start on my amp? this is only to make sure that it is my remote lead wire is in fact the problem.

I know that the remote lead wire usually isnt 12V, so my quesiton is will it damage the amp to have a 12V wire connected to the remote lead wire?
