12" W7 on home stereo

I have a W7 laying around and was wondering since they are single 3 ohm subs would it be ok if i hooked it up to my home theater which is also 3 ohms for the sub.

its only like 300 watts to the sub but the sub it has now is tiny

I'm guessing the home theatre amp will not be enough to push it, but it shouldn't hurt it either.
