true, but it helps to know what kind of vehicle its going in and what kind of amp is powering it.

i have a 86 chevy caprice. i have hifonics 1608d on 2 type r's ! 1 ohm now, and it slams. this guy want to trade my a Dual 1ohm Fi BL 18 without A Box, For my type r subs with my box.

Is It just me or would I be Downgrading?? i'd have to build my own box and i'd get less power out of my amp because i will have to be wired to 2 ohms on the Hifonics 1608d...whadya guys think? should i just stick with the R's?

You can make your setup louder than the 18 and the 18 can be made louder than your Rs. It's about how much effort you put into your setup.

I've had 12s louder than a single 18. But id go with the btl any day over the Rs. Hell id go with a single btl 12'' over 2 12 Rs

ok so i just talked to my buddy..he said he'll trade me a MTX 1501D..its does 1500@2ohms for my Hifonics 1608d... so if i do trade this other my subs. i'd have a better amp @ 2 ohm for the Fi BL 18

If you got lots of space, go with the 18 . If not , stick with the Rs.
