12" Type R in Scion tC

Im gonna help my friend build a box for his Scion.

theres not alot of room behind the rear seat, and its a hatch style car.

Alpine says 1.75 cubes for the ported enclosure, I was thinking more towards 2?

he has about a 1.25 cube prefab right now, not sure about the dims available yet, but was thinking sub up port up, because his box now has the sub only like an inch from the back of the trunk area.

for a type R 12 go close to 2.5 cubes if you can and tune it to 32-34hz

what about sub up port up? would it be better with the port back?

most of the time that depends on the vehicle so it's hard to say

I've found that firing the sub at something solid i.e. trunk wall increases bass noticeably be sure not to choke the port though, and remember to deaden whatever your firing at or it will rattle like hell.
