12" sub on 1 cube sealed box?

R's dont sound bad sealed. Had two of them do 144.2 in a trunked car and sounded decent, not the best, but did fine. People that say they sound like ish or don't do decent numbers sealed have no clue what they are doing or just never heard one sealed.

Yes, Ported you will get louder, but it is not as bad as most say.

With that said, you need to have that R in a bigger sealed box IMO. I had mine in 1.75 each chamber.

I would go with the ID like others tried to mention or the new SI Mag.

in a sealed box, especially a small sealed box you'll need a sub with a lot of xmax and a strong motor. and you'll need a powerful amp to push it.

so look for a sub with a high bl, and a lot of xmax.

What about something like this? You will still have room for other things. If you want to loose the spare tire.

No. High BL subwoofers usually have a very low Qts and a tiny Vas because they are typically built for high SPL vented applications. If you look for a high BL subwoofer and a lot of Xmax and you're looking to install it into a tiny sealed enclosure be prepared for a subwoofer that sounds like a tin can.

There are a few subwoofers out there specifically designed for you exact application. I can't say which one I favor, but lilmaniac hit the nail on the head. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The fire extinguisher looks cool, however I wonder whether it should be located where it is. If your audio equipt catches on fire wouldn't you have to reach through the flames to get to the extinguisher?

Vanadium 12" minimum recommended volume sealed is only 1.05cf, and they list it having .105cf of displacement. 32mm xmax...should be higher than the mag if what i've read is correct and the mag only provides ~25mm xmax. In fact - wow, the mag v4 appears to only have 16mm xmax and 22mm xsus.

If Xmax is the determining factor when it comes to sound quality, pick up a SICKO or look for an old LMS driver. Per mounting depth and enclosure requirements the new Mag v4 has adequate linear displacement. And since it utilizes a linear BL motor topology (XBL^2), it maintains its T/S's (and hence, the sound of the driver) better than conventional topologies. There's also a small write up using a familiar program here which explains why you don't need huge Xmax drivers for tiny sealed enclosures.

And Rainbow rates their Vanadium's at 32mm one-way linear? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

alrighty, i guess i had the high BL part backwards. sorry. didn't mean to give anybody wrong advice.
