Which of these subs would be better for an SQL install. Power will be 600-1k watts. Box will be ported and under 2.5ft3. Music is about 85% Heavy Metal and Hard Rock but I do like to bump every now and then.. I'm upgrading from a Dayton Audio DVC (Shiva Clone) and don't want to sacrifce any SQ for loudness. I've read lots about the D2 and its SQ and SPL potential but peeps don't talk much about the SX's SQ, only it's SPL. Anyone heard both?

Thansk for any input

well the SX is still fairly new to market, and many people have been using them for competition so far, but as far as RE has said they are capable SQL subs, I have not heard them yet, but the SI D2 is well proven so far

Thanks Denim. I have talked to RE but I need a non manufacturers viewpoint. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Someone has to have used the SX in an non SPL install? Anyone?

Well i mean i think i blew a voice coil on mine. Cuz the way RE has you wire them up. You tighten the Wires in with a screw. U use a allen wrench to tighten it. Mine kept coming unless. Til i made like a Loop out of the wire. and put it in there good. It still puts pressure on my chest. My headunit went out and i hadnt played it in 2 weeks. My first 5 minutes back with it, it gave me a headache.

Its well worth the 270$ shipped. You cant find a better sub for the money. That takes 1000 watts which is a easy amount of power to find. Not a whole lot can beat this single sub. I was told if u threw 2000 watts at a XXX it would break away from the SX. in SPL. But the SX has better SQ. My buddies that heard a W7 say thats better. But who really wants to pay $700 for a subwoofer when u can get almost the same quality for half the price. I would like to buy another but its about a $600 upgrade. Im to lazy to get a bigger box. Right now i really want to get a 12" XXX and throw 2,500 watts into it. but that requires a new battery and alt. Ive been told the SX wont handle 1500 watts for long periods of time. I had a chance to swap for $10 a Hifonics 1000D and a 1500D. But i was afriad id blow my sub. I wish i woulda now because i want more bass. I just like to see ppls faces when they've never heard of RE and they are like Holy shit thats coming from 1 12"? in a Regular Cab truck omg. I had the bestbuy guy saying imessage=Well i mean i think i blew a voice coil on mine. Cuz the way RE has you wire them up. You tighten the Wires in with a screw. U use a allen wrench to tighten it. I had the bestbuy guy saying it was impossible for me to fit a 12" in my truck with a 3.0 cu ft box. Without taking out the passenger seat. he thought he was soo cool. He talked about how his W7 he sold hit 147 dBs. He was a d-bag and needed to come hear my SX and see whats up. But today was the first time ive heard someone say they didnt like RE. If u can afford it go with 2 12"s. Ive never seen a person hear yet that has a 10" SX though. 3 of those would be cool too. =).

there was no useful information in there.

Hm... Everyone here seems to think that whatever sub they own is the best. Give the guy some REAL advice, not just "OMG I OWN IT IT ROX OMGOOGLES!!!!111".

Ontopic - Sorry steam, never owned one.

i use the 18 in a wall tuned to 37hz. at lower levels, i can get it to blend very well with most music. i would imagine if i took a 12, put it in a smaller box tuned around 30-32hz, the SQ would be pretty darn good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

as for the D2, i have heard one, but no extensive listening. i have heard people say the SQ is on par with the A, with that being the case, i would definatly choose the D2 over the SX for a SQ install....especially if you listen to alot of metal/rock
