12" RE SE vs. Alpine type r

i was always looking towards getting a type r untill a friend suggested i look into a SE...so i looked into it n then starting leaning towards the SE. and now i guess im leaning towards the type r? lol im so confused on what to get //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

its close...but I have to give the edge to the SE for SQL
sealed...I would go Type R (SPL greater than SE sealed)

ported...definitely go for the SE (for SQL)

SE edges the Type R in SPL (ported) by a very small margin
no

no

wow 0 out of 4. nice work!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

ok.....

what enclosures did you have them in...both ported and sealed?

how much power?

to each his own.....Im sticking to my opinions

oh..this is for your sarcasm

Sorry, but that couldn't be more wrong...

Sealed: DEFINITELY the SE

Ported: type-r will KILL the SE in terms of output (what kind of power are we looking at?)

SE will edge the type-r in SQ in either situation, but there's no way the SE will win in SPL.

This is coming from a person who has OWNED BOTH SUBS. How about you?

1.25 sealed for both SE and Type R....800 watts RMS

2.0 ported for the Type R (28 hz.).....800 watts RMS

1.75 ported for the SE (29-30 hz.)......800 watts RMS

SE is better sealed...as far as SQ goes

based on WinISD with actual manufacturer specs for both the 04 SE and 04 Type R (both subs I have owned).

SE is louder according to the graphs (sealed) which surprises me. I felt like the Type R was louder.

SE is also louder ported.......by a bit.

bleh...what do I know...

We're not talking about the '04 type-r, this is the new model which is COMPLETELY different.

And as for modeling it in winISD, you may as well have made that graph in MS paint, because that's how credible it is.

oh...ok.....so......I was right then?

oh..BTW...dude didnt mention which year he was looking for....perhaps the '05 is louder.....

thats great...so....could you make a more accurate graph then for me?

please graph the '05 Type R and the '04 SE for me.....pretty please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

800 watts...both in manufacturer spec boxes tuned to say....30 hz.

It's impossible to graph what the subs would do IN A CAR.

And yes, the '05 is without a doubt a far superior sub to the '04 model.

You can have your opinion, but i'd guarantee that a type-r will perform better than an SE....PERIOD.

Hell, my type-r outperformed a seXXX AND an SX. All for flat out SPL purposes. I would be running the type-r daily if it would fit in my daily driver box.

winISD is pretty useless when it comes to determining which sub will perform better in a vehicle.

From my personal experience, and from others, the type-r will outperform the SE. And if you think the manufacturer spec boxes are the best performers, you really don't have experience with either sub.

manufacturer specs....I try to stay around them...what do you use to find optimal box sizes?

I feel that RE specs are pretty accurate.

so you dont agree with the enclosures I used for the subs?

BTW...oversized boxes = teh boominess.
