I just got back from a local audio shop and I was showing the guy there my trunk and discussing my box ideas for the trunk.
I told him that i was planning on putting a 5 cu. ft. ported box in my trunk so that the subs can get 2.5 cubes a piece.
He told me that my whole trunk isn't even 5 cubes and that it wouldn't fit. I told him that i calculated it out and it should work in a 30" X 15" X 20" box. He told me that a box with those dimensions would give me less than 4 cubes total and that they would sound better with 1.75 cubed per sub.
He also told me that the IDMAX V3's (which is what i have) have problems with their glue on the internals getting too hot and melting....he said that you can tell if this happens to you by pushing the sub in and listening for scratching.
He seemed like a very knowledgeable person and he even competes in db drags, so i believed him at first.....are my calculations wrong? Is 2.5 cu. ft. for each sub too much?
