12" and 13" Subs, will i notice the difference?

So i am having trouble choosing between a JL 12W3v3 or a 13W3v3. I know the specs are different, 12" is 300w rms, and the 13" is 400w rms. But i only plan on using a JL 250/1 for which ever one i get since i am on a budget and would like to stick with JL. But if i under power either one is that good for the sub? And will i notice a difference in sq between the 12" and the 13"?

you will notice nothing...and that amp will provide sufficient power to the sub without hurting it

i kinda figured that but i did not know if it would hurt the sub if it was not getting the recommended power. But will there be a huge difference between 250w and 500w? I know it is double the power but will it be double the loudness? And if i do run 500w is it alright to power the JL 13W3v3 with 500w rms?

just turn the gain down if you got too much power.

Yes, you will notice a difference between the 12 and 13. The 13 is actually 13.5", so it is halfway between the 12 and 15. Definitely go with 500w over 250, and look at other amps besides JL. you can find amps for hundreds less that will power the sub in the exact same way.

well, i just heard both subs with same amp on both and there was no noticable difference. Granted this was in a show room not a car but nope...no difference. Now power upgrade will make a big diff but each of those on the same power.. no difference but everyone is entitled to their opinion
