12" 06 XXX box ideas?

Any suggestions on a box for this thing. In another thread for an 18" of these it was suggested that he make a sealed box. So my question is sealed vs. ported and why. Also should I follow RE's box sizes or go for something different? Thanks guys!

Well, what do you want out of the sub? Low? Loud? Loud and low?

You can port that sub but you will have a noticeable gain around tuning and what will sound like a loss of the upper bass frequencies. Sealing it would work well and would give you a pretty solid low end. You could also make use of the massive excursion that sub can deliver. I think RE's specs are not too bad for sealed though I would tune closer to 30hz for ported.

Sealed will work better for my application because I like lows and massive excursion!!!! Anyway the box is gonna be tiny because the sub will be inverted because it is too beautiful to hide lol... and there will be plexi on the opposite side so I will be able to see the front of the sub.

I would do about 1.25 net cubic feet with that sub for nice lows and greater efficiency. I wouldn't go any smaller than about .8 cubes though.

i'll go ported. i have mine in a seal enclosure to re specs and it not as loud as my 2 10w7.

Really thats very interesting because that was the setup I was running before I got the xxx and I cant imagine that something that big wouldnt be louder than the 2 w7's...
