yea limited to a trunk,,2012 Malibu ha but yea my old set up was a 12 inch m5 (600rms) in a sealed box being pushed by 1500 rms at 2 ohms on my mojo amp (2 ohm stable) since I only had the options of 2 ohm or 8 ohms. So I recently got a cvx 15 but didn't realize it was the dvc 2ohm model so I can only wire it down to 4 ohms on my amp which is 750 rms at 4 ohms and the only box I had was a 1.47 cf sealed box. Huge difference in performance with the 12 sounding better spl wise ect

Old school Memphis 1500 (2 ohm stable/1500 at 2 ohm/750 at 4ohm)

12" Memphis dvc 4 ohm

1.25 cf sealed box

vs

15" cvx dvc 2 ohm

1.47 cf sealed box

The box for the CVX is way too small, it's no wonder it doesn't sound good. Plus it's on half the power versus the Memphis. Even though the 12" has less cone area, doubling the power is going to make up for that.

The minimum sealed box volume for the Kicker is 1.8 cubes. The max is 5.2. That makes the average 3.5 - not that you need that, but I just want to illustrate just how tiny the box is.

If space is your concern go with the sealed 12 and sell the 15. If you can swing 3 cubes you could do either the 15" sealed or 12" ported, if you wanted.

So if I put the 15 in a bigger box like 3cbf with 750 rms running to it, would it hit harder than my 12 being pushed with 1500 rms?
thats still a maybe. I would say use the 12, make a ported box. make the box like 2.25 cu ft -3 cubes. honestly the better suited box will work out best. the 12 will sound better in a 3 cu ft box than the 15.
