I don't think they have put out statistics for assaults on law enforcement this year but taken from the FBI database I found that 49,851 officers were victims of line-of-duty assaults in 2013. It seems to be about the average per year.
Maybe if we used the money we're going to spend on Transgender reassignment surgery from Medicare and Medicaid and some welfare and used that to fund the VA, Police and Fire, EMS services we could lower the percentages of deaths and lack of care of our public servants in general. Hey wouldn't want the Dems to lose any votes though yeah?

I don't think it being part of their job is a good excuse to throw them under the bus. Nor is it an excuse to think it's ok that they are beaten and killed. They uphold laws passed by our government. They don't write the laws hell sometimes they don't even agree with those laws. They just enforce them which by law is their duty. Why throw them under the bus and protest in support of violent felons? Leading to 6 months of anti-law enforcement rhetoric directly leading to the murder of two innocent and ironically minority police officers? If not for all the cop bashing lately this moron would have shot his old lady and shot himself not driven all the way to NY to kill to innocent cops.
I find it disgusting that people in this society **** up the perks given to us by hard working public servants and military personal with such a lack of compassion and understanding for what they give to do that job.

No one forced them to join, and if I remember correctly, they get paid for their services.
