I just bought 2 10w7's that will be sealed , i am currently looking for an amp for them with no luck thus far, i found a used 2500bd on this forum 4sale. I already have a 2500 in my magnum pushing 4 eclipse aluminums, will this amp be waaay too much for the jl's? Im thinking it would but i could gain it back to take it easy on them. I have no experience with any w7 subs so this is new to me.

Ive cooked a w7 10 on a jl 500/1 in a 3.5 cubic foot ported box, ive actually cooked two in the same box off of a 500/1 as long as its sealed u could run a 1000/1 or 1500/1 on the pair i think

What ohm load will the amp see? I probably wouldnt run it down around 1. I would run it at the highest ohm load possible, but yes if you keep the gains down and no bass boost, you should be fine.

Since almost nobody uses a o-scope on their stereo during day-to-day use, I always take comments like "I know someone who fried a sub on X amount of clean watts" with a large grain of salt. Improper gain settings, variances in recording levels, and even low system voltage, can all cause an amplifier to clip. Unless you really know what you are doing, its hard to guarantee you are never clipping your amp. And if you do really know what you are doing, its very unlikely you will fry a tried-and-tested sub like a W7 when staying within its recommended power window.

thanks for all the responses but i definately think i will be going in a different direction with an amp. These will be my 1st pair of w7's and they are used, so dont really know if the previous owner beat on them or not. Just dont want to take a chance with them like now that i have read some responses and given it more thought. I think i will stay around the 1000 watt range. im not building a ground pounder system, i want a pure sq build. So can you guys recommend a nice new/used amp that will give me true power and clean? I have bidded on 2 jl 1000's yesterday on ebay and lost both by $5 lol. I have about $400 to spend so recommend away people.
