10's vs 12's help

Have you ever thought about 2 8"s? I just built a box for a friend that was 2 8"s.

You could do two DD 1508's, Sa-8's, or DC lvl 2 8's.

ya i've thought about the sa-8's but don't know anyone besides guys on here who've run them and don't know how they sound. Do they hit lows and everything? some 8's sound great only at certain notes and then fall flat on the rest. that was my main concern

I would do the DD 1508's.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but I just do not understand this forum obsession with 8" sub woofers. a 12" subwoofer has more cone area than an 8, and is better able to reproduce low notes simply because it can move more air.

an 8" subwoofer has 50.25in^2 of surface area, a 12" woofer has 113.1in^2. SO even with two 8, the 12 has more cone area.

I just don't see why everyone is going crazy over 8" woofers ._.

2 8's of the same series as the 12 will take more power, about the only advantage. also will cost more though

True they do have a mad rep for shutting people up about 8's lol but what would you guys do? 2 or close to 2 cubes aero ported with one 12 or?

If it were me, I'd do a single Fi Q 12.
