I have to retract what I said earlier because I was pointed out the inadequacies of Class D amplifiers by a friend of mine. He then proceeded to show me the difference between a Hifonics Bxi 1608D and a Lunar 2125 on a pair of 10 inch Phoenix gold subwoofers in a Tahoe with a ported box that he just built for the 10s. I forget what track it was, but he played something by Disturbed off of CD and when it got the the double bass pumps, there is a noticeable difference between the way the Hifonics amp reproduced them and they way the Lunar amp produced them.
The Hifonics sounded like a muddy blah on the double bass drum pumps whereas the 10s hit each and every single one of them with the Lunar amp. For the record, the Lunar is LESS power than the Hifonics, but it sounded cleaner and more precise.
Then he popped in some DJ Unk, which again I don't know my *** from a hole in the ground when it comes to rap, and it was a little harder to tell the difference between the amps. I don't listen to rap, but from what I can tell, it is loose and muddy bass to begin with, so accuracy is a moot point.
Vehicle: 2002 Tahoe
HU: Pioneer DEH-800PRS
Subs: Some PG 10s in a ported box (couldn't tell you the model if my life depended on it)
Songs: Disturbed (don't even know the CD) and DJ Unk (know even less about this artist)
Differences in the way the two different amps produced low frequencies... VERY HUGE! The only thing that sucks is he pointed out the weakness in my 2006 Mustang with the same tracks.... Now I hate him //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
