1000 watt amp q's

Alright heres what I got, Would a 1000 watt 2 channel kingwood amp bridged running 2 audiobahn alum12n dvc 6 ohm 1000watt rms 12's in a series be overpowered? Or would that just meet the 1000 watt rms level? or what?

I was told that when you bridge a amp usually its power of its bridged channels are 4 times one of the channels power which would be 500 watts but at what ohms would it run? confussing to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif . Due to the fact that I dont have the papers etc for the amp got it off a buddy about 2 months ago. He had it a few weeks bought new, but he threw away the box, papers, etc so thats a lost cause.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Btw they are in a duel seald box if that efects anything, I was told by a few other sites some subs in a sealed box makes them handle less power, next to if they were in a ported box which would make them handle more power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif lol.

Alrighty then.

Whew! I had to read your post two or three times through to make sure I understood what you were asking.

Proper formatting of your posts would make them immeasureably more simple to comprehend, just to let you know (paragraphs, punctuation, complete sentences, etc)

As to your question. The first thing we need to know is the model number of the amp you have so that we might do a little research into the actual power output capabilities of it. That way we'd be able to give you a much more informed response. I can tell you, unfortunately, that Kingwood is traditionally understood to belong in the same category as Pyle, Pyramid, Boss, etc wherein the wattage claims they make is in no way related to the performance these products actually offer.

Having said that I'm going to say I have grave misgivings about whether or not your amp there will come anywhere close to outputting 1kW. Ever.

As to your subs ~

Subwoofers that have dual voicecoils can be wired in two separate methods when connecting those voicecoils together ~ either in series or in parallel.

Dual 6 Ohm subs, by themselves, can be wired to either 12 Ohms or 3 Ohms, respective to the above methods.

A pair of them can be wired to a final nominal load of either 6 Ohms or 1.5 Ohm resistance.

Well, the level of power you'd need for a pair of 1,000w RMS subs is, obviously, going to be 2,000w. Or thereabouts. Between 1,500 and 2,000w would be just fine, most likely. It will be much easier to source that level of output @ a lower resistance than a higher one so let's concentrate on the 1.5 Ohms.

I'm sure your Kingwood amp is not stable lower than 4 Ohms when run in mono bridged mode so doing that is most likely going to be out of the question.

The only other out would be to run one sub off of one amp channel - but again, seriously doubting any validity to the wattage specs on that Kingwood, your current amp is likely going to be severely deficient output-wise for the subs you have. They are going to want considerably more power than you can currently feed 'em. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Edit ~ Whoever told you a vented box will allow for higher power handling over a sealed alignment for the same sub had it backwards. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

The model number is crw-2-1022 for the amp, And thanks for the response. Sorry about the rambling sorta got ahead myself. But anyway yeah I figured it really wouldn't give enough power to them. I didnt figure it was a great amp becuase it was the first time I seen that brand. But what the hell the amp was free, cant argue with free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
