10" subs in a Reg. cab

Im new to the auto a/v world but do have exp. in the comercial sound dept. I am planning on putting two 10s in my 03 ranger reg cab but have heard alot of people saying that there is not much diff between 1 and 2 subs whats the deal with that? and the box im using is good for up to .7 cu' per sub but can only hold a 5 7/8 deep sub any recomendations, also how are the newer RF P1s? I dont want alot of bass just some thump to my music not looking to competition or anything, thanks for any opinions and input
