10" Sub Suggestion

Hi guys, I'm wanting to get a single 10 for my car (2004 350z) soon but I'm not quite sure what I want. At first I was positive I wanted a XXX, but from what I've read I'd probably definitely want to get an amp that could push at least 1200 watts. I don't want to have to add battery or worry about frying my electrical system so I didn't know if I'd be ok with what I had initial planned on doing or if there are other 10s that are a more efficient so I could sound it less power and it still hit as hard. Thanks.

for 1.2kW, you don't need to worry about frying your electrical...just upgrade the magic 3, no HO alternator needed (unless you have a really, really low amperage model to begin with).

You could go with the RE SX 10", its rated for 1000wrms and it would sound pretty good/get loud for what it is. I suggest the XXX though, I dont think you will have any issues with the electrical system.

haha like me with a 70 amp alt in a 02 xterra, I would call NIssan up and find the the amperage of your alt for the 350z, Japanese model cars are notorious for low amp alts, then depending what it is, adjust your amp decision accordingly

sidenote, I have been running around 1100 on my alt for a year and get some dimming, but other than that its good

ps Jack Frost, where in NC are you, I am in W-S currently at home with my rents for the summer

OK, did some checking, my alternator is rated at about 115A. So I'm thinking I'm gonna go with a RE SX and about an 800 watt amp. That should draw about 57.9 amps and I would think that would be plenty of headroom for the rest of the car.

Will the SX with an 800 watt amp still hit pretty good? Any amp suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm going to go with the standard dual voice coil 2ohm SX.

I'm thinking maybe the Hifonics NX750D. It's only 750 watts, but I'm guessing the difference between 750 and 800 is negligible.

If your going to go with the NX750d, let me know because I may ba able to cut you a deal on one.

hey trixter - i was thinking of the same kind of setup with a Resonant Engineering 10” Sub @ dual 4 ohm config.

if i hooked this up right would that mean its running at 2 ohms? I was looking at the hifonics amps, but i wasnt sure how much they would cost. because the RE 10 will push 1000w (2ohm?) i believe. it dosnt really say on the RE website. (and there are no pictures.

i wanna put the RE 10" in my sealed fiberglass enclosure- not sure about the size of the inside, im waiting to mess with that until i get the sub- then tune it accordingly.

this is my trunk;

what kind of price could you make a deal on that thing for?
