Hey guys,

I just bought this subwoofer on ebay and when I first recieved the subwoofer the cone seemed very stiff, so I hooked it up and turned it on and this is the noise it made.

Blown - Have you put a DMM on the Voice Coil(s)?

The motor could have shifted or been cracked during shipping, making the voice coil rub. If you hear a scraping sound when you push down on the cone and feel a lot of resistance that it most likely the problem. This has happened to me before.

Ok so I responded to the guy online and he said it worked up until the minute that he unplugged it. Now is this something that could possibly happen through shipping?

If there is a rubber boot on the magnet, pull it off. Thats what I had to do- sum bish was cracked all the way around on mine.

its blown take a ddm to the coils as mentioned before

Yep thats coil rub. Sometimes the dmm will still read fine because the coil itself is fine. The motor/pole could be shifted. Happens all the time because people try to package things as cheaply as possible and UPS mishandles them as much as possible. The sender needs to file a claim with the delivery company. When you buy used items, make a video recording of yourself opening the package and testing the unit to cover your azz if something ***** up.

ohhh man so now im confused ... i bought a dmm and tested it and ... it test fine

any ideas what could be up with it?
