1 vs 2 woofers

Hello, I am wondering if any of you have actually played with 1 vs 2 woofers of the same brand. What I am trying to find out is if you have a 1200 RMS woofer and a 1200 RMS amp, what would the difference be in POTENTIAL spl vs 1 1200 RMS woofer and 2 1200RMS woofers with the SAME 1200 RMS amp.

Basically I'm trying to figure out if it's going to be worth the extra money for 2 woofers. The other issue is that my amp is 1 ohm stable and nice woofers such as the RE HC and RE XXX are dual 2 ohm.

I have heard that doubling the woofer quantity THEORETICALLY increases the SPL by 3 dB and doubling the power increases the SPL by 3 dB. So wouldn't that mean that if you have 1 woofer with x amount of power, then add another of the same woofer, you would gain 3 db from doubling the woofers but then lose 3 db by giving it 1/2 the power as before??

Any insight would be greatly appreciated !

If we look at 1 woofer with 1200 watts vs two with 600 watts per driver, you're going to see 3dB more output with the pair than the single driver.

So does that mean that between 1 woofer and 1200 RMS and 2 woofers and 2400 RMS there is a theoretical 6 dB increase?? Isn't that INSANE?

Also, anyone who has a single 12 or 15, feel free to post what dB you are hitting so I can get an idea. I have 2 Alpine Type R 12's ported @ 42 hz and I want Louder!!!

My problem is that I have 1200 RMS at 1 ohm, so I need something that works around there.

I hear people's vision is going blurry and mine isn't even close.

go with a 12'' XXX and i think if you wire it parallel it will work with your amp and get the full 1200 rms. not 100%sure on that, someone else will know hopefully.

It takes knowledge more than product to get yourself some higher numbers.

I realize that it is really dependent on box type, size, tuning frequency, quality of install, car itself, etc.

Seeing that soo many people own a single XXX or whatever, that is probably a good solution for me.
