if you were to get the other sub, and another 1200w amp there would be a significant increase in SPL. I want to say 6dB -- 3 for double the power, 3 for double the cone area. Now comparing 2400w to 3000w nets less than 1db. So if you're metering, and there's something at stake to make those couple tenths of a dB worth the effort it might be worthwhile to go to a 3000w amp, or pair of amps, otherwise 2,400 to a pair will make a pretty substantial difference in SPL.

Something else you might want to consider - in the 2kw+ range you are probably going to need a high output alternator to maintain a high enough voltage to get that kind of power out of your amps.

thanks....im going to go with the 2 amps to 2 subs.....a couple db to me doesn't make a difference to me.....i can't have to much money right now im going to buy the other sub right now and get the amp a little later....running the two subs would make the spl go down quite a bit....right?....it just seems crazy that having one sub is going to be better then having the two.....it's going to kill me to have this sub just sitting in my room.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I believe doubling the cone area will offset the decrease in power, so I wouldn't expect a drop in spl, but when you get around to adding the 2nd sub, and more than doubling power - from 800 to 2400 that will be a huge improvement.

but you are going to have a tough time acheiving what you want with both those amps and no electrical upgrades
