im pretty sure i know the answer alredy but i figured the pros on here could help me out....

i have a mb quart amp it runs 1,200w@1 ohm, 800w@2 ohms,600@4ohms....it has two positive and two negative slots that run to the subs....right now my amp is running at 1 ohm pushing 1 cadence daytona a dvc 2 ohm sub. and it's only taking up one set of the positive and negative hook ups.....im planning on getting another one sub. can i run them both like this

1_2ohmDVC_1ohm.gif

or would i be forced to run it like this

2_2ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

it would **** if i had to because the subs can run 1,500 rms....and the amp is only doing 800 @ 2 ohms

does that make sence?

You can run one off one set of terms, but that gonna be all 1200watts to one sub. If you get another and wire to the second set of terms its gonna pick up the amps final load to 2ohms for the pair. That kinda amp is internally bridged.

is your amp a two channel or a mono. if it is mono and your subs are D2 you will only be able to run them at .5 ohm, or 2 ohm. so what is your amp? and what are you speaker impedences?
mb quart 1200d.1

cadence daytona dvc 2ohm

what about that? thats a two ohm load going to 2.... 2 ohm subs
Yes, that is how 2 DVC2 subs are wired to 2 ohms, however you simply don't have nearly enough power.

For 2 Daytona subs, rated at 1500wrms each, you'll need an amp to do 3kw of power at 0.5ohm. This is going to require a high output alternator as well as the big 3, and a battery or two.

if i wire the subs this way why would it only be 400w to each sub....why wouldn't it be the full 800w it says the amp would do at 2ohms?

I know this doesn't help with the OP's question, but the amp isn't internally bridged. It's a mono amp - one channel in, one channel out, there's nothing to bridge.

Internally bridged amps are rare and every one I know of is HUGE.

Those two sets of speaker terminals on the MBQ (and a lot of other mono amps) are parallel inside the amp. If you wire each sub for 4 ohms and connect one to each terminal the amp sees 2 ohms.

The only purpose is to allow for running more than one speaker lead w/o having to fit them into one speaker output.

AND FWIW - you don't NEED 3000w to run those subs - 800w (400 ea) is obviously on the weak side, but if they can't do really well with ~1000w a pc they aren't nearly worth the price. Find yourself another MBQ amp and you should be golden //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the one sub is awesome....does really well!!.....but my friend has 2 treo ssx subs and ssx amp, and he is louder then the one sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif....i just want mine to be as loud as his....i have to get the other sub too....i haven't bought it yet.....whats my best option....get another MBQ amp....or get a strong amp.....and if anybody has any ideas of a good higher rated amp let me know....hifonics are all over the place....they over rated tho i think i heard?....
