1 AMP: Unrealistic?

Is it unrealistic to have a high-end system with one AMP powering 2 coaxials and 2 subs? I find that it's easy to get high quality Speakers and Subs but when you look for a AMP to power it, its near impossible to spend less then $200 at the very lowest.

I planed on running (2) JL AUDIO 12W3v3-2's and a pair of JL AUDIO XR650-CXI's but when I started looking for a AMP, everything I was suggested was in the $200-$400 range. I'm trying to avoid having 2 AMPs. Opinions?

truth is you get what you pay for.... $2-400 for an amp is a fairly average price depending on the power and configuration... Yeah you can buy a 4 channel amp and run the subs off one set of channels and the speakers off the others, but you will most likely not be satisfied with the result, it just won't be enough power for subs.... there's always a single 5-channel amp option, most don't give a tremendous amount of power for a sub(s) but they're better than trying to use a 4 channel to do the same thing..... It all depends on your goals for the system.... If you're just wanting balanced sound without a load of bass then the 4 or 5 channel option may be just fine..... but if you're wanting plenty of performance out of you're subs you'll be better off getting seperate amps....

if your doing that why is it all for sale in your sig.?

A Memphis Belle would do the trick for you. Pretty sweet amps. But I doubt you'll find one at that price range... The kicker that DBFan posted would do just fine for what you are looking for as well. I'm almost tempted to bid myself, but I got christmas presents to buy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

My biggest concern.

This was my last attempt at keeping it at one. I guess I have no respectable reason to go to two. All direct suggestions respected but I guess I'm going to roll with two [unless I can get some reassurance that 1 could do the trick, then I'm totally fine with one]...

Any suggestions on 2 AMPS to power that set without me posting a whole new thread [and spending a fortune preferably]?

going with 2 amps you could likely get more for your dough. Get pick up a decent 40-60x2 for your front stage and get some moderate class d 12v crapfest for your subs. There have been a lot of pretty good amps for sale on here for $75-100 shipped.
