$1.87 paypal for one precal problem help

Is that (x + 1) / x = 5 or x + (1/x) = 5? Parentheses are your friend....
it's

Given:

(x) + (1/x) = (5)

Evaluate (x^3) - (1/x^3), without solving for x.

I think I got it though...

Answer = x+1???

might've just saved myself 1.87 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

does that have anything to do with why the problem above is useful?
do you use this in your job?
I know this stuff is useless, but it needs to be done to get my degree..

I intern at a structural engineering firm and the only math we use there is basic algebra, the rest is just logic and given formulas in which you just plug numbers in..

doesn't take away the fact that it's a required class for a degree..
